School Support, IEP Navigation & Parent Advocacy
You don’t have to navigate the school system alone.
Supporting a child within the school system can feel overwhelming—especially when trying to understand evaluations, advocate for sensory or regulation needs, or prepare for an IEP or school meeting. Irvine Therapy Services partners with parents to provide guidance, clarity, and confidence throughout this process.
What Is School Support, IEP Navigation & Parent Advocacy?
This service is designed to support caregivers in understanding their child’s needs, educational rights, and available supports so they can participate confidently and collaboratively with school teams.
At Irvine Therapy Services, our approach to advocacy is strengths-based, neuro-affirming, and relationship-centered. We focus on collaboration rather than conflict, helping families feel informed, prepared, and supported.
How We Support Families
- Reviewing IEPs, 504 Plans, and school-based evaluations
- Helping parents understand goals, services, accommodations, and supports
- Translating clinical OT and speech evaluations into school-friendly language
- Preparing caregivers for IEP meetings or school conferences
- Coaching parents on how to communicate concerns, priorities, and questions
- Attending school meetings as a support person when appropriate
- Collaborating with teachers, aides, and school-based service providers
- Supporting sensory regulation, participation, and access in the classroom
When Families Seek This Support
- An upcoming IEP or 504 meeting feels overwhelming or unclear
- A child’s sensory or regulation needs are not well understood at school
- There is a mismatch between clinic progress and school participation
- Parents want to advocate effectively without feeling confrontational
- Families are new to the IEP or 504 process
- A school transition is approaching (preschool to kindergarten, elementary to middle school, etc.)
Our Collaborative Approach
Our advocacy services are grounded in:
- Collaboration, not conflict

- Respect for families and school teams
- Developmentally informed, practical recommendations
- Supporting caregiver confidence and regulation
We believe children thrive when the adults around them feel informed, aligned, and supported.
